Acai Berry

The fruits of the açai palm have been used as a food by the population of the Amazon region since time immemorial. Açai berries will only keep for a short time and fresh berries are therefore only available in their countries of origin.
They are often squeezed for their juice. Açai berries are known for their particularly high anthocyanin content. Anthocyanins are responsible for an intensive red, violet or blue colouring in plants.
For humans, on the other hand, they are important antioxidants. Studies have shown that the fruits have antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, heart-protecting and anticancer effects.
